Swimming is a life skill as well as great exercise and a challenging sport. The Y offers Safety Around Water, traditional swim lessons (for all ages), aquatic fitness, family swim, competitive swimming and water polo teams, and many kinds of adaptive swim programs for people with special needs. We want everyone to be water safe, swim safely and enjoy the pleasures of an aquatic environment.

Aquatics Cool Temperature Policy:
Cooler temperatures can cause unsafe swimming conditions in an outdoor pool. Low temperatures also affect the capability of lifeguards to remain comfortable and attentive to the pool and swimmers. When the combined air temperature and wind chill (Ex. "Real Feel" temperature) is below 50 degrees, outdoor pools should remain closed until the temperature rises above 50 total degrees.

Swim Lessons

The Y is your source for progressive swim lessons for children and adults. The Y's 8 different levels of instruction mean that your child can begin with the most appropriate level of caring instruction. Adult lessons are for beginning and intermediate level swimmers. Whether you're just starting out or want to improve your stroke technique, your instructor will focus on your specific goals.

Water Exercise

Exercising in the pool has never been more fun! Instructors perform movements on land while participants exercise in the pool. Water exercise classes are low-impact and easy on joints. YMCA of Southwest Florida pools are heated year-round and as long as it’s not too cold and there is no lightning nearby, class is in session!

Swim Team & Masters Swim

A great way for kids and teens to make friends, have fun and enjoy a little bit of friendly competition. We introduce younger swimmers, who can perform all four competitive strokes, to the team environment while more experienced swimmers develop their technique and endurance level.

All swimmers develop the values of goal-setting, teamwork, good sportsmanship and hard work.
